The AST4530 submersible pressure transducer from American Sensor Technologies (AST) has been certified by CSA International to Class I Div 1, Groups C and D for use inintrinsically safe areas with an approved barrier. The approval includes the latest intrinsically safe hazardous location standards for North America.
AST plans to extend the success it has reached in the industrial market with this product into hazardous area markets such as oil field liquid level monitoring, salt water holding tanks, chemical injection system monitoring, and production facilities requiring intrinsic safety.
The new pressure transducer features:
- No deadband, reflectivity, and foaming issues.
- Submersible sensor technology with PVDF body and cable.
- PTFE non-stick diaphragm.
Combined with ABS certification, the AST4530 submersible pressure transducer will also be installed in shipping applications where chemicals are being transported. Wastewater treatment facilities will benefit from the additional approval due to installation requirements in certain atmospheres.
These liquid level sensors remain competitively priced with the addition of the approval. While it features complete PVDF and PTFE construction, pricing is competitive with most stainless steel submersible pressure transducers and other technologies such as ultrasonic sensors and radar level sensors.
