SANTA ANA, Calif., (BUSINESS WIRE) – Powerwave Technologies, Inc. a global source for end-to-end wireless infrastructure solutions, today announced its RapidFlex™ Mobile Deployment Unit was selected as the 2010 TechAmerica Orange County High-Tech Innovation Awards winner in the Telecommunications - Innovative Product/Technology category.

The awards event, held June 2 and hosted by TechAmerica Orange County, recognized excellence and achievement in the technology industry across Orange County and the Inland Empire, and honored local companies, individuals and products that drive innovation.

"It's with great pride that we accept this award acknowledging extraordinary technology product innovation," said Ronald J. Buschur, president and CEO, Powerwave Technologies. "Our RapidFlex Mobile Deployment Unit plays a critical role in supporting mission critical communications for government agencies, military, network operators and first responders via an all-in-one mobile communications center that is easily transportable and up and running within 30 minutes by a single person."

A temporary-to-permanent site solution, Powerwave's RapidFlex is a lightweight, compact and cost-effective mobile solution for expanding wireless capacity in "grey" or highly trafficked areas. The combination of equipment shelters (or an outdoor equipment cabinet) and a hydraulic-powered telescoping tower creates a fully self-contained portable communications site to support emergency services, rapid military deployments, expanded capacity at events or to establish a mobile command center.

RapidFlex is differentiated from other cell-on-wheels solutions due to its one-person rapid deployment capabilities, facilitated via computerized one-button touch screen operation and automated cable extension and retraction system.

"The Orange County TechAmerica Awards highlight today's most innovative technology offerings that meet critical needs for government, consumers and the enterprise," said Bob Brunson, associate director, TechAmerica Orange County. "We are pleased to acknowledge Powerwave's innovative RapidFlex offering, which provides mission-critical wireless communications support, wherever and whenever, at the touch of a button."

Now in its 17th year, the High-Tech Innovation Awards are sponsored by the AeA, the largest association of high-tech companies in the United States with approximately 2,500 companies. In addition to the awards, TechAmerica Orange County also -- in conjunction with Project Tomorrow, the nation's leading education nonprofit group focused on preparing today's students to be tomorrow's innovators -- acknowledged educators and students who incorporate technology into their lesson plans and assignments.
