Maxim Integrated Products introduces its MAX17024 single, Quick-PWM step-down controller with dynamic REFIN. This device uses proprietary, constant-on-time, Quick-PWM architecture to support wide input/output voltage ratios and to provide optimal transient response while maintaining a relatively constant switching frequency. Operating from a 0 to 24 V input voltage, the controller can generate any output voltage from 0 to Vin. It increases flexibility by allowing the use of any kind of output capacitor, and compensation is not required if using polymers or tantalum capacitors. Packaged in a 3 mmࡩ mm 14-pin TDFN package, this controller is suitable for stepping down high voltages in notebook applications. It features over-voltage, under-voltage and thermal protection.
