Rogers Corporation and Varioptic have announced their components for miniature high resolution auto-focus cameras for handsets. The two companies have collaborated to provide a liquid lens optical system that consists of Varioptic’s auto-focus Liquid Lens and Rogers’ integrated DUREL® LL3 driver. The liquid lens system eliminates moving parts, and it enables the user to obtain accurate focus from a short distance. To provide its liquid lens with the needed voltage, the DUREL LL3 driver from Rogers’ Durel Division drives the liquid lens up to 60 V rms into a capacitive load of 500 pF maximum. The liquid lens optical system features low operation power with a low standby current of 1 µA.
