Berkeley Varitronics’ Caterpillar Wi-Fi frequency and power analyzer now includes USB connectivity for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz monitoring, recording and playback via PC. Custom Windows® software allows for real time, detailed X-Y graphing of dBm, user threshold settings and live or recorded playback (play, pause, rewind, fast forward, etc.), similar to DVR control. When connected to a laptop, Caterpillar becomes a technician's portable tool for individual AP/NIC analysis and verification within any WiMAX network allowing measurements to be studied on the spot or later for future network planning. It is a handheld sweeping analyzer designed for 802.11(b,a,g) Wi-Fi and WiMAX frequency and power measurements. The receiver attaches directly to an Access Point, bridger or network interface card via the included SMA antenna connection kit. Caterpillar has a unique triggering capability to measure both 2.4 and 5 GHz frequency bands to verify and analyze output packet power levels, report their channel and frequency and create an 802.11 power profile.
