Spirent announces enhancements to its CDMA2000 Performance Test System, a system that combines carrier-scale Mobile IP testing, high-volume application traffic, and roaming/mobility simulation in a single application package. The system's features provide service providers and network equipment manufacturers (NEMs) with testing versatility and automation. The system can simulate more than six million mobile stations, and can help determine potential weak points on a network to ensure accurate capacity planning. Customers can use the system to create the real world in the lab by simulating millions of mobile nodes connecting to the mobile network that is executing real application transactions and roaming between operators. The system can also establish end-to-end IPSec VPNs. The system includes HTTP, FTP, SMTP, and WAP technologies, enabling services providers to verify the accuracy of content-based billing systems - a first step toward leveraging new revenue streams from mobile applications such as picture messaging, MMS video, and operator-hosted applications.
