Micron announces the MT9M011 1.3 megapixel image sensor - the company's first megapixel sensor designed specifically for the mid- to high-end mobile market, including smart phones and 3G phone platforms. The MT9M011 uses Micron's sensor architecture and next generation process, achieving excellent performance in key areas such as low-light sensitivity, signal-to-noise ratio and ultra low power consumption. Based on a 1/3-inch optical format, Micron's MT9M011 sensor immediately achieves an excellent designation when compared to similar sensors targeting mobile applications. The MT9M011 delivers low-light performance that exceeds sensitivity levels of CMOS-based sensors and matching the sensitivity levels of state-of-the-art CCD-based sensors. The low-noise DigitalClarity technology enables the sensor to capture superb-quality color images without increasing power requirements. Additional features include: programmable gain and exposure control and black-level calibration, a frame rate of up to 30 fps at 50 mW along with image decimation to any size while sustaining smooth, continuous motion.
