Vishay announces a range of multilayer varistors that combine typical 0.5 ns response time with capacitance values down to 70 pF (25 pF optional) in accordance with CECC42000 and IEC 61051-1. Devices in the MLV 2322 573 (0603 case size) and 2322 574 (0805 case size) series are suited for protecting sensitive components from incoming overvoltage transients. Additionally, the varistors can also be used to suppress electrostatic discharges reaching 15 kV in air and 8 kV in contact (IEC 61000-4-2). Features of the MLV series also include inherent bi-directional clamping, a high energy/volume ratio, and nickel/tin terminations. They are lead (Pb)-free and withstand a three-fold lead-free reflow soldering process. Maximum average power dissipation is rated at 5 mW, while working voltages range from 4 V to 25 V, depending on the device chosen. Maximum allowed pulse current is 30 A standard, with higher values optional.
