Maxim introduces the MAX9213/MAX9214 21-bit, LVDS serializer and deserializer. The mAX9213 serializes 21 bits of LVTTL/LVCMOS data into three LVDS serial data streams. A parallel-rate clock on the fourth channel provides timing for the MAX9214 deserializer. The MAX9214 deserializes three LVDS serial data inputs into 21 single-ended LVTTL/LVCMOS outputs. The MAX9213/MAX9214 feature programmable DC balance, which allows isolation between the serialize4r and deserializer by using AC coupling. The DC balance feature also reduces bit errors in the MAX9214. the maximum aggregate payload data rate in DC-balanced mode is 1.386 Gbps, and 1.785 Gbps in non-DC-balanced mode. The MAX9213/MAX9214 operate from a single 3.3 V ± 10% supply. The deserializer outputs have a separate supply, allowing 1.8 V to 5 V output logic levels. These devices are available in 48-pin TSSOP and QFN packages and are specified for operation from 40°C to +85°C.
