Torex Semiconductor Europe has introduced the XC6205 and the XC6209, two high-speed positive voltage regulator. The XC6209's low power consumption (25(A typical) and very high speed of operation makes it ideal for Bluetooth and other RF applications. Operating down to 0.9 V, the XC6205 is aimed at low voltage DSPs. Both series provide low dropout, high-precision, low-noise output and high-ripple rejection. These CMOS devices combine a voltage reference, error amplifier, current limiter, phase compensation circuit and a driver transistor in a single compact package. The XC6205 and XC6209 series have an output voltage range of 0.9 to 1.75 V and 0.9 to 6.0 V respectively, selectable in 50 mV increments within their respective ranges. The XC6209 series has a very low dropout voltage of 200 mV at 100 mA and a high ripple rejection of 70 dB (10 kHz). The XC6205 series has a dropout voltage of 600mV at 100 mA and a ripple rejection of 60 dB (10 kHz). The XC6205 and XC6209 are also ideal reference voltage sources, providing highly accurate output of ۬%. They are fully stable with low ESR ceramic capacitors on the output bringing significant cost savings over competitive devices which require more expensive tantalum capacitors to maintain stability.
