Murata introduced a new Global Positioning System (GPS) Receiver (RX) device for enhanced 911 wireless phones, GPS and telematics manufacturers. Using design engineering, the GPS RX (part number LMRX3JBA-082) combines five separate components into one package, cutting cost and size compared to discrete solutions. Utilizing low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) technology, Murata's GPS RX module integrates two inductor capacitor (LC) filters, a Low Noise Amplifier (LNA), a mixer and a balun into a 3.8 mm × 3.8 mm product for use with intermediate frequencies (IF) of 110 MHz, 183 MHz, or 210 MHz. The modules unique design not only requires less board space and lowers product cost, but also reduces the part number maintenance and inventory costs.
