- Pentek has recently announced the SystemFlow Simulator for its Talon analog and digital recording systems, which includes a virtual recorder server application that simulates disk and I/O transactions for a complete and realistic recording environment. The SystemFlow Simulator demonstrates actual Configuration, Record, Playback and Status screens of the standard GUI, each with intuitive controls and indicators, and it includes the SystemFlow Signal Viewer to display simulated live signals being digitized and recorded by a Pentek analog signal recorder.
- Scientists at the University of Southampton have demonstrated the recording and retrieval processes of five dimensional digital data by femtosecond laser writing. This kind of storage allows unprecedented parameters including 360 TB/disc data capacity, thermal stability up to 1,000 degrees celcious., and practically unlimited lifetime. The ‘Superman’ memory crystal records data via self-assembled nanostructures created in fused quartz, which is able to store vast quantities of data for over a million years.
- Last week the Associated Press reported on how the Norwegian Space Center and the Telenor Satellite Broadcasting teamed up to assess the feasibility of a new satellite system covering northern areas outside the reach of current geostationary communications satellites. Demand for high-speed Internet in the Arctic is expected to grow as shipping, fishing and oil companies move north amid warming temperatures and melting ice. According to Bo Andersen, Space center director, the new system should be in place by the early 2020’s.
- Diamond Multimedia’s WR300NSI wireless repeater is a small, compact device that creates wireless connectivity where ever you go. This wireless range extender is a 3-in-one device that extends the wireless range , creates a wireless hotspot, and connects to Internet ready device.
