This amplifier is particularly useful as a variable gain block in a feedforward correction loop as well as in a transmit amplifier chain. The AM55-0027 is controlled through a serial interface with 3 lines (data, latch and clock). It is a single GaAs MMIC chip device in a low cost plastic package. This multi-function approach enables precise gain control and its versatility allows it to be used in numerous applications. This results in an overall lower system cost. The AM55-0027 operates from 1.94 to 2.34 GHz, making it ideal for emerging 3G wireless communications standards.
