Virginia – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) has applauded the work of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), World Telecommunications Development Conference 2014, to define the agenda for the ITU Development Sector for the next four-year period. The ongoing two-week conference will focus on a broad range of policy issues relevant to the adoption and application of information and communication technologies (ICTs) by developing countries.

TIA issued the following statement:

“TIA is pleased to be able to host a U.S. reception in honor of the World Telecommunications Development Conference 2014.  The Conference is an opportunity for economies of all types to come together and work towards the common goal of facilitating the growth of the digital economy around the world.  We believe that the Conference’s theme of ‘Broadband for Sustainable Development’ is timely and very appropriate, as broadband deployment is critical to taking full advantage economic and societal benefits of ICTs.”
