Hotseat Episode 22: The Internet of Things
In this week’s episode of the HotSeat, we are welcoming back Bill Conley, B&B Electronics’ M2M systems development engineering manager. Not only is Bill an industrial wireless industry pioneer, he is also one of the newest members of WDD’s editorial advisory board.
We are happy to have him back this week to discuss aggregating disparate data protocols on the Internet of Things
- In your opinion, why is there such an attraction to producing completely autonomous machines in the industrial market?
- What are the main challenges/obstacles when trying to connect disparate technologies to newer technologies used for IoT? Are there any current solutions to overcoming these challenges/obstacles.
- What strategies is B&B Electronics producing to help make the industrial Internet of Things successful?
- Anything else you would like to add or comment on?

To learn more about the industrial Internet of Things, how it differs from the consumer Internet of Things, and some remote monitoring solutions that exist, refer to the white paper, "Aggregating Disparate Data Protocols on the Internet of Things." Rather than eliminating our existing M2M data networks and connected devices, the industrial Internet of Things will coexist with them for a long time. It will incorporate the older technologies, provide them with dramatic new capabilities, and increase their value.
