GIGAVAC Announces Hermetically Sealed Battery Disconnects
GIGAVAC (Santa Barbara, CA) has announced a new addition to their extensive line of Advanced Switching Solutions. The HBD series of manual service disconnect switches incorporates new patent pending technology to deliver protection from hostile environments. The HBD series is the first hermetically sealed disconnect and all models exceed IP67 and IP69 requirements.
Designed and manufactured in the U.S. by GIGAVAC, there are three HBD versions available; HBD21, HBD31, and HBD41 respectively feature 200, 300, and 400 amps continuous current carry. The lightweight and compact (about 4 x 5 inches) design of HBD series hermetically sealed contacts give users the confidence of a low voltage drop: less than 50 millivolts at rated current, under any weather conditions including salt spray and at temperatures from -55° to +85° C. All HBD models incorporate an environmentally durable fiber composite housing which provides additional protection from the ravages of sun and water.
Technical specifications for all three include:
- Operating voltage: 100 Vdc max.
- Overload: 2,000 A - 1 min.
- Load switch capability.
