Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. (Germany) [NASDAQ: MXIM] has announced it is sampling the MAX14920/MAX14921, high-accuracy, 12/16-channel cell-measurement analog front-ends (AFEs) that lower battery-management electronics costs by up to 35%. These devices double the accuracy of cell voltage readings through the use of high-accuracy common-mode level shifting and an integrated high-precision amplifier that simplifies ADC data conversion. Key features include:

  • A high accuracy that increases individual cell accuracy and improves cell balancing.
  • One chip that supports battery management of up to 16 cell packs.
  • Availability in a 64-pin (10 x 10 mm) TQFP package (MAX14920) and an 80-pin (12 mm x 12 mm) TQFP package (MAX14921).
  • An operating temperature range from -40 ° to +85°C.
