ARINC 429 Line Driver Features Built-in DO-160G Level 3 Lightning Protection
Holt Integrated Circuits introduced the world’s first ARINC 429 line driver capable of meeting DO-160G Level 3 pin injection waveforms without external components. The HI-8597 operates from a single 3.3V power supply, eliminating the higher voltage supplies needed with other ARINC 429 line drivers.
The internal lightning protection circuitry fully complies with RTCA/DO-160G, Section 22 Level 3 Pin Injection Test Waveform Set A (3 & 4), Set B (3 & 5A) and Set Z (3 & 5B) without external components. An internal 37.5 Ohm resistor on each output enables direct connection to the ARINC 429 bus. All ARINC 429 voltage levels are generated by the on-chip DC/DC converter, operating from a single 3.3V supply using only four external capacitors. The device also has excellent short-circuit capability on the ARINC 429 outputs (+/-50V for 1 second).
