Two New Wideband PLL with Integrated VCOs

HittiteMicroHittite Microwave Corporation has launched two exciting new SMT packaged wideband PLL with integrated VCOs, the HMC833LP6GE and the HMC834LP6GE . These devices deliver industry leading phase noise and spurious performance and are ideal for a wide range of applications including high performance cellular/4GWiMax infrastructure, repeaters and femtocells, communications test equipment, CATV equipment, very high data rate radios, phased array and DDS replacement applications.

The HMC833LP6GE is an industry leading, low noise, wide band, Fractional-N Phase-Locked-Loop (PLL) that features an integrated Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) with a fundamental frequency of 1500 MHz - 3000 MHz, and an integrated VCO Output Divider (divide by 1/2/4/6.../60/62) and doubler. These features allow the HMC833LP6GE to generate frequencies from 25 MHz to 6000 MHz. The HMC834LP6GE is a low noise, wide band, Fractional-N Phase-Locked-Loop (PLL) that features an integrated Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) with a fundamental frequency of 2800 MHz - 4200 MHz, and an integrated VCO Output Divider (divide by 1/2/4/6.../60/62) and doubler, that together allow the HMC834LP6GE to generate frequencies from 45 MHz to 1050 MHz, from 1400 MHz to 2100 MHz, from 2800 MHz to 4200 MHz, and from 5600 MHz to 8400 MHz.

The HMC833LP6GE and the HMC834LP6GE feature industry leading phase noise and spurious performance, across all frequencies which minimizes blocker effects, and improves receiver sensitivity and transmitter spectral purity. The superior noise floor of less than -170 dBc/Hz makes them ideal for a variety of applications such as; LO for RF mixers, a clock source for high-frequency data-converters, or a tunable reference source for ultra-low spurious applications. The HMC833LP6GE and the HMC834LP6GE also feature 9 dB of programmable RF output power control (3 dB steps), and an output mute function with over 40 dB of isolation across the entire operating frequency range. Both devices feature an “Exact Frequency Mode” that enables users to generate output frequencies with 0 Hz frequency error. An integrated Phase Detector (PD) feature and a delta-sigma modulator, which is capable of operating up to 100 MHz, enable wider loop-bandwidths with excellent spectral performance.

Also released, the HMC1060LP3E is a BiCMOS ultra low noise quad-output linear voltage regulator targeted at high performance applications requiring superb power supply isolation. The HMC1060LP3E is ideal for use with Hittite's Wideband PLL with Integrated VCO products, such as the HMC833LP6GE and the HMC834LP6GE . A maximum 500 mA of current, distributed between four independent outputs, enable the HMC1060LP3E to supply all of the power needs of Hittite's Wideband PLL with Integrated VCO products. The device also makes an excellent general purpose regulator that supports adjustable output voltages ranging anywhere from 1.8V to 5.2V.

The HMC833LP6GE and the HMC834LP6GE are each assembled in 6 x 6 mm plastic leadless surface mount packages, and support operation over the -40 °C to +85 °C temperature range. The HMC1060LP3E is housed in a 3 x 3 mm plastic leadless surface mount package.
