Fujitsu Components America announced it has added a compact, 802.11b/g wireless LAN + Bluetooth version 2.1+EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) combination module. The fully integrated module minimizes piece parts while providing engineers with a cost-effective way to easily and quickly add both wireless technologies to new product designs without requiring special expertise.
Developed for lightweight and compact devices, Fujitsu’s MBH7BWZ04 measures a 10mm x 11.2mm x 1.4mm in a 60-pin LGA package. An onboard EEPROM, voltage regulator and crystal oscillator enhance the module’s usability while minimizing package size. Primary applications include industrial computing, POS systems, hand held terminals, and instrumentation.
The MBH7BWZ04 wireless module features separate power sources and switching capabilities to allow independent or simultaneous operation of wireless LAN and Bluetooth. This feature also reduces the module’s overall power consumption when either transmission circuit is not in use. A single RF I/O eliminates interference to support WiFi-Bluetooth co-existence.
The Fujitsu module is based on CSR BlueCore 4-ROM and Marvell 88W8686 chipsets. It is compatible with UART/USB and SDIO/G-SPI interfaces to accommodate the integration of both Bluetooth and WiFi. The MBH7BWZ04 module is certified Bluetooth with QDID:016220.
