9W Micro USB Adapter for Charging Lithium Ion Batteries
Phihong USA has developed a new 9W adapter with field interchangeable clips for use with tablets, peripherals, wireless and networking equipment. Designated the PSAC09R series, the charger features a single output of 5V DC with a Micro USB connector and is fully compliant with the Level V Efficiency marking requirements. The adapter's constant current output also complies with USB's Battery Charger Specification Rev. 1.0 making it ideal for charging lithium ion batteries in personal electronics.
"In 2009, several governments and safety regulators including the European Union formally defined the common external power supply making Micro USB the standard for charging batteries in data-enabled personal electronics such as mobile phones," said Keith Hopwood, vice president of marketing for Phihong USA. "With the rise of high-resolution touchscreen technology and the increasing popularity of tablet computing, the constant current output on the PSAC09R is the ideal choice for charging more powerful lithium ion batteries."
Replacing the PSM08R mini-USB adapter, this new lower-cost and more efficient charger is double-insulated, meets Class B EMI standards, and features short-circuit, over-voltage, and over-current protections. The device is equipped with a constant-current feature that enables a quick charge on lithium ion batteries followed by a constant-voltage output to "top off."
Ideal for frequent travelers and OEMs with a worldwide customer base, the PSAC09R features field interchangeable AC clips for Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, Europe, Korea, India, the United Kingdom and the United States. A clip that has an IEC320 C8 input is also available to convert the wall plug into a desktop-style adapter able to be powered by a two-wire line cord. All AC clips are sold separately.
The PSAC09R series measures 71.7mm by 45mm by 29.79mm and weighs 120 grams. The 1.5-meter output cable is terminated with a standard Micro-B USB connector. Phihong offers users the opportunity to change connectors in-house with no minimum order requirement.
