Fairchild Semiconductor's USB accessory switch, the FSA800, was announced as a winner in the 20th annual EDN Innovation Awards in the category of Analog: Signal Path.

Fairchild's FSA800 is a 3:1 USB accessory switch enabling USB, audio and UART data to share a common connector port. The FSA800 also has a charger detection function, microphone connection capability and provides superior audio signal integrity as well as overvoltage protection (OVP) on VBUS lines for charging.

Fairchild's products for mobile complement chipsets in signal path for audio, video, USB, signaling, sensing, and timing and power management for peripheral cores, lighting and RF, driving end-product differentiation.

“Innovation has continued aggressively throughout the economic downturn, as evidenced by EDN's 20th annual Innovation Award winners,” said Rick Nelson, EDN's editor-in-chief. “Thirty products won out over more than 130 finalists in very competitive categories. Fairchild Semiconductor's FSA800, which won in the Analog Signal Path category, is a prime example of what key innovators can accomplish.”

The annual EDN Innovation Awards honor outstanding engineering professionals and products. EDN uses a combination of audience votes, balloting by the EDN Editorial Advisory Board and voting by EDN's editorial staff to determine the ultimate winners.
