Hittite Microwave Corporation introduces two GaAs MMIC I/Q upconverters which operate from 21 to 27 GHz and from 17.7 to 23.6 GHz respectively. Also released is a GaAs MMIC Sub-harmonic mixer which operates from 24 to 34 GHz. All three devices are suitable for a wide range of applications including microwave radio, EW, ELINT, radar, SATCOM, test equipment and sensors. The HMC815LC5 and the HMC819LC5 are compact GaAs MMIC I/Q upconverters which feature a driver amplifier preceded by an I/Q mixer, where the LO is driven by active x2 multiplier. This I/Q mixer topology is highly beneficial for microwave radio applications, since the unwanted sideband filtering is reduced. The HMC815LC5 and the HMC819LC5 I/Q upconverters also provide small signal gain conversion of 12 to 15 dB with +20 and +35 dB of sideband rejection, respectively. These I/Q upconverters are much smaller alternatives to hybrid style single sideband upconverter assemblies, and exhibit excellent 2 LO to RF isolation of up to 12 dB, with output IP3 is as high as +35 dBm.
