Software/Hardware Solution Suite Provides Value Added Services for Wireless Applications

Fri, 07/31/2009 - 12:55pm
SAN DIEGO -- Continuous Computing®, provider of uniquely architected systems comprised of telecom platforms and Trillium® software, today announces its Value Added Services (VAS) solutions. The company’s VAS solutions are pre-integrated and application-ready to allow network equipment providers (NEPs) accelerate time to market for their enhanced wireless services such as Short Message Service (SMS), Caller ID, roaming, E911, ringback tones, and e-mail services, among others. By accelerating time to market by 12 to 24 months, Continuous Computing’s VAS solutions increase return on investment over the life of the project by up to 50 percent.

Lebanon-based Invigo chose Continuous Computing’s VAS solutions to power its wireless device management, mobile client applications, roaming services, SMS, and call control solutions offerings. Invigo has over 40 customers spread throughout the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe, Caribbean, and Central America, including carriers belonging to major operator groups such as Orange, Orascom, Zain, Digicel, Etisalat, and Wataniya-Qtel.

Consisting of a pre-integrated combination of Trillium protocols, standards-based line cards, and integrated management software that has already been tested and certified for rapid deployment, Continuous Computing?s VAS solutions enable customers like Invigo to deliver smart services in 3G, GPRS (2.5G), and 2G networks faster and more cost-effectively than if the providers were to do it themselves.

“Continuous Computing’s Trillium signaling software is the foundation of our VAS solutions, which are an important sub-segment of 3G/LTE networks,” said Manish Singh, VP of product line management, Continuous Computing. “VAS solutions serve as an add-on to primary applications, enhancing the value of these applications and providing a new revenue generator for mobile operators. Pre-integration is a key factor in helping NEPs achieve faster time to market while also meeting price objectives.”

VAS providers, such as Invigo, now have a compelling alternative to designing their own software or integrating commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) building blocks in order to deliver innovative services to mobile operators. Previously, VAS providers were required to allocate substantial time and resources to build or integrate systems, which required large in-house teams and multiple man-years of effort to design, build, integrate, and support a VAS platform. With VAS solutions from Continuous Computing, innovative service development — which is the most valuable and differentiated part of the system value chain — can be a VAS provider’s primary focus.
