DC/DC Controller Supplies 25 A per Output

Maxim Integrated Products' MAX15023 dual-output, synchronous step-down controller drives external MOSFETs to deliver from 12 A to 25 A per output. Operating over an input voltage range from 4.5 to 28 V, the device integrates a ±1% accurate voltage reference to provide an output voltage from 0.6 V to 85% of the input voltage. The switching frequency (200 kHz to 1 MHz), external compensation network and current limit can be adjusted. The component is suitable for telecom, networking, storage and server equipment. The unit uses cycle-by-cycle lossless current sensing, and eliminates external freewheeling Schottky diodes via adaptive synchronization. The product can start up monotonically when the output has a prebiased voltage; proprietary, adaptive digital soft-start for controlled turn-on. Two independent enable inputs and 2 independent power-good indicators with turn-on/turn-off thresholds are included. The 4 × 4 mm, 24-pin TQFN-packaged MAX15023 is specified from -40°C to 85°C.
