Single-Chip System Decrypts and Decodes Code-Hopping Transmitters

Radiometrix introduces an IC that uses an internal clock so that a sophisticated low cost data decoder that incorporates secure authorization can be produced. Using a single button and suitable FM receiver, the user can instruct the KRX416 IC to recognize and synchronize with up to 16 individual proprietary code-hopping transmitters. The 28-bit serial number and code synchronization for each transmitter is retained in the on-chip memory even after power has been removed. The IC incorporates a Manchester decoder, uses a CRC and has four individual ON/OFF outputs and two output modes (momentary and latched). The device will also output a status flag that indicates low battery voltage level at the transmitter. Applications include secure remote keyless entry (RKE) RF remote control systems such as intruder alarms, fire alarm control, vehicle locks and interlocks, door entry systems and simple industrial process control.
