Low Dropout Regulators for High Efficiency Applications

Micrel, Inc. launches its MIC5313/4/5/6 family of low input voltage capable, low dropout regulators that integrates two LDOs that are capable of operating from a low input voltage of 1.7 V while consuming 37 µA total quiescent current. The MIC531x family has very low dropout voltage in order to regulate from low voltage rails and to provide a high conversion efficiency. Each one of these dual regulators can supply up to 300 mA of output current, while consuming 37 µA total quiescent current when both channels are enabled. The product family allows use of small ceramic output capacitors, reducing required board space and component cost. In addition, this family offers high PSRR, POR, voltage scaling, fast turn-on time, current limit and thermal shutdown protection.
