LNAs Exhibit Failsafe Bypass Mode

Hittite Microwave's HMC668LP3E and HMC669LP3E GaAs pHEMT MMIC LNAs utilize an automatically-enabled failsafe bypass mode in automotive, cellular/3G, WiMAX/4G and test equipment applications from 700 to 2,200 MHz. The HMC668LP3E is rated from 700 to 1,200 MHz, and the HMC669LP3E is rated from 1,700 to 2,200 MHz. The 3 mm2 SMT QFN-packaged components deliver up to 17 dB gain, 33 dBm output IP3 and noise as low as 0.9 dB in LNA mode from a 3 or 5 V bias supply. The RoHS-compliant amplifiers switch between LNA mode and bypass mode via a CMOS-compatible control line. An externally-adjustable bias current tailors the output power of the LNA for each application.
