Streaming and Encoding Platform Enhances Mobile Music Experience

Thu, 04/03/2008 - 10:21am
Driving innovation and a better customer experience for mobile music and on-demand mobile TV, Vidiator announces new capabilities delivered by its Xenon™ streaming and encoding platform that enables mobile handset users to quickly browse music and TV channels, navigate and listen to favorite music tracks and more. Xenon enables mobile handset users to create server-side music playlists with sub features 'shuffle,' 'random,' and 'server-side playtime control, along with Fast Track Switching that allows subscribers to immediately navigate between music tracks in a playlist without any buffering or disconnection.

Likewise, the new Fast Channel Switching feature for Mobile On-Demand TV enables subscribers to switch between TV channels in seconds, just like navigating channels on regular HD TV. This is because Xenon maintains multiple music clips or live TV channels on the server, rather than establishing a new streaming channel.

These new capabilities are live or set to go live with carriers including 3 Sweden, 3 Austria, 3 UK, and 3 Italy; PCCW in Hong Kong; and media and technology provider Buongiorno (MILAN: BNG).

Xenon is an open platform for encoding and streaming multimedia content in multiple formats, delivered over wireless networks to a vast range of mobile devices. Xenon is based on standards-compliant technologies supported by the majority of mobile handsets available today, making it extremely easy to deliver multimedia content to mobile users without requiring a client application on the mobile device.
