Maxim Integrated Products’ MAX4927 is a quad, high-speed, high-bandwidth, Gigabit-LAN switch. This device switches signals from two separate interface transformers and connects them to a single, 1000 Base-T Ethernet PHY. To save space and cost, the MAX4927 integrates robust, ESD-protection structures that eliminate the need for external ESD diodes while meeting the following ESD-protection specifications: 䔳 kV IEC 61000-4-2 Air-Gap Discharge, ۲ kV IEC 61000-4-2 Contact Discharge, and 䔳 kV Human Body Model. The MAX4927 also includes LED switches that allow LED output signals to be routed to a docking station along with Ethernet signals. Available in an industry-standard, 5mm x 11mm, 56-pin TQFN package, the MAX4927 is appropriate for upgrading the performance of applications that require LED and Ethernet signal switching, such as notebooks and docking stations.
