Vanu, Inc. is pleased to announce that its Anywave® Software Radio solution has been implemented in the cellular industry\2019s first system to ever simultaneously operate both GSM and CDMA on a single platform. Mid-Tex Cellular, a rural operator in central Texas, first launched Vanu\2019s GSM system in 2004 and this month officially added CDMA to existing GSM base stations via remote software downloads.

This is a major milestone for the wireless industry where cellular operators have historically had to duplicate hardware and field support costs with each new technology they deploy. With the Vanu Anywave Software Radio solution, Mid-Tex was able to add the CDMA standard remotely; share existing hardware with the GSM system; and keep backhaul costs to a minimum by utilizing common links across the two wireless standards. The Anywave technology has dramatically shortened time-to-market for new services and increased roaming revenue.

It has also provided Mid-Tex with \201Con-demand\201D capacity growth and evaluation of revenue impact and performance through software downloads instead of cell site visits.
