BridgeWave Communications announces the completion of a Series 3 funding round of $7.8 million, including existing investors and the addition of Intel Capital. Proceeds will be used to meet increased demand worldwide for the company's point-to-point gigabit wireless solutions. To date, BridgeWave has deployed thousands of GigE wireless radios for inter-building LAN extensions for enterprises as well as high-capacity access and backhaul links for network operators.

With the additional funds, BridgeWave is well positioned to meet the ever-increasing needs for high-capacity bandwidth as the company's 60 GHz and 80 GHz links deliver 10 times the bandwidth of comparably priced 100Mbps Ethernet links. Additionally, BridgeWave's backhaul capabilities will be a strategic enabler for large-scale deployment of 4G/WIMAX access networks.
