Fujitsu Ships the Commercially Available 5.8 GHz WiMAX

Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA) ships its 5.8 GHz WiMAX baseband system-on-chip (SoC) to ODM partners and customers worldwide, including solutions provider Texas Instruments, WiMAX systems provider ORZA Networks and WiMAX customer premises maker Sun Create Electronics Co., Ltd. The 5.8 GHz WiMAX SoC from Fujitsu has been based on the WiMAX Forum™ worldwide system profile. The chip has both the performance characteristics and cost-effectiveness to support full base station designs as well as subscriber unit implementations. The Fujitsu SoC, which supports frequencies ranging from 2 to 11 GHz in both licensed and unlicensed bands, is now commercially available with a fixed WiMAX CPE supporting the 5.8 GHz ban.
