Kulicke & Soffa Announces Agreements to Divest Test Businesses

Kulicke & Soffa Industries announces a plan to tighten its focus on semiconductor assembly equipment and materials and create value for its shareholders. K&S has signed a definitive agreement to sell its wafer test assets to SV Probe, PTE, Ltd. K&S has also signed a definitive agreement to sell its package test assets to Investcorp Technology Ventures II, L.P., which is managed by the Technology Investment Group of Investcorp, a global investment firm. In both cases, the transactions are subject to closing conditions.


NEC Electronics Announces Merger

NEC Electronics Corporation has announced that it will merge its wholly-owned subsidiary, NEC Compound Semiconductor Devices, Ltd., back into the parent company, effective April 1, 2006. NEC Compound Semiconductor Devices designs and manufactures RF and wireless semiconductors, components for fiber optic communications, optocouplers and solid state relays.


Mouser Electronics and SimpleTech Ink Global Distribution Agreement

Mouser Electronics, Inc. announces that it has entered into a global distribution agreement (excluding Scandinavia) with SimpleTech, Inc., a provider of products based on DRAM, SRAM and flash memory technologies. SimpleTech designs, manufactures and markets a comprehensive line of high-density memory modules and high-performance solid state storage products that are used in high performance computing, networking and communications, consumer electronics and industrial applications. The company specializes in the development of high-density memory modules, memory cards and storage products.


Cirronet and Digi-Key Announce Distribution Agreement for ZigBee™ Products

Cirronet and Digi-Key Corporation announce that the companies have signed a worldwide distribution agreement that includes Cirronet's proprietary and ZigBee-based modules and developer's kits.


Pendulum Instruments Expands its International Business

Pendulum Instruments further expands its international activities. The company has its headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden, with subsidiaries in Oakland, California, plus St. Petersburg, Russia. International sales are performed via some 80 distributors around the world. Now the company has established an office in Beijing, China.


RFM Could Provide up to $950,000 in Wireless Mesh Networking and Commercialization Technology

RF Monolithics, Inc. announces that its Wireless Systems Group is participating in a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract awarded to Nanotherapeutics, Inc. to develop an improved system to detect improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The contract's potential value is $2.4 million, if all deliverables are elected, and of that amount RF Monolithics could provide up to $950,000 in services and products. Nanotherapeutics has received this new, second-phase SBIR contract from the Office of Naval Research to refine, field test and commercialize the Nanotherapeutics explosives detection system. In addition to commercializing Nanotherapeutics' invention, RF Monolithics will be adding wireless mesh network capability to the system to create a field-deployable array of explosive sensing devices.


ANADIGICS Reports Fourth Quarter and Fiscal Year 2005 Results

ANADIGICS, Inc. reports fourth quarter 2005 net sales of $33.3 million, an increase of 14% compared to net sales of $29.3 million in the prior quarter, and an increase of 49% compared to net sales of $22.4 million in the year ago quarter. The net loss for the quarter was $3.9 million, or $0.11 per share, compared with the net loss of $6.8 million, or $0.20 per share, in the prior quarter, and a net loss of $10.3 million, or $0.31 per share, in the year ago quarter.


Digi-Key Corporation Announces Distribution Agreement with Digi International

Digi-Key Corporation announces that it has entered into a distribution agreement with Digi International® Inc. Digi International is a leading manufacturer of ARM-based embedded modules. Digi-Key will initially be stocking Digi-International's embedded modules and development kits from the Digi Connect ME, Connect EM, Connect SP, ConnectCore 7U, ConnectCore 9C and ConnectCore 9P families. This new franchise agreement with Digi International will allow Digi-Key to fulfill the design and production needs of its customers. Digi-Key currently ships product to more than 130 countries around the globe.


Cadence Reports Fourth Quarter 2005 Results

Cadence Design Systems, Inc. reports fourth quarter 2005 revenue of $378 million, an increase of 10% over the $343 million reported for the same period in 2004. On a GAAP basis, Cadence(R) recognized net income of $27 million, or $0.08 per share, in the fourth quarter of 2005, compared to $60 million, or $0.20 per share, in the same period in 2004. Revenues for the fiscal year 2005 totaled $1.33 billion, an increase of 11 percent over 2004 total revenues of $1.20 billion. Net income for the fiscal year 2005 was $49 million, or $0.16 per share, compared to net income of $74 million, or $0.25 per share for the year 2004. Net income for both the fourth quarter and fiscal year 2005 includes incremental tax expense of $30 million, or $0.09 and $0.10 per share respectively for the fourth quarter and full year 2005, associated with the repatriation of foreign earnings.

BI Technologies Experiences Growth in Mil/Aero Market

M/A-COM Awarded $8.9 Million Contract

M/A-COM announces that it has received an $8.9 million award from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) to deploy an OpenSky network solution to provide critical voice and data communications for the department's law enforcement personnel. OpenSky is a wireless private communications network based on Internet Protocol (IP) technologies that will connect the department's current force of more than 2,000 officers internally and provide interoperability with surrounding agencies. M/A-COM will provide 700/800 MHz OpenSky network infrastructure for the initial phase of the LVMPD radio system infrastructure replacement project, which is designed to strengthen the department's current communications capabilities and best prepare it for future emergency situations.


Digi-Key Announces Distribution Agreement with Power Integrations

Digi-Key Corporation announces that it has signed a worldwide distribution agreement with Power Integrations. Power Integrations' ICs enable manufacturers to produce small, simple, energy-efficient power supplies for a vast array of consumer and industrial electronic products. UTStarcom and Tessera Sign Licensing and Development Agreements

Tessera Technologies, Inc. announces that it has licensed its Tessera Compliant Chip (TCC®) semiconductor packaging technologies to UTStarcom, Inc. In addition, the two companies have collaborated on the development of UTStarcom's MobileCard technology, which is an ultra-miniaturized mobile phone module that is equivalent to the size of two SIM cards. Arrow to distribute Ember ZigBee Semiconductor Systems in Southern Europe

Arrow Europe announces that it has signed a distribution agreement to market Ember Corporation's ZigBee™ wireless mesh networking systems throughout Southern Europe. AWR Posts Record Sales, Closes Third Round Financing

Applied Wave Research, Inc. announces the completion of a Series C preferred stock financing totaling $6.4 million. The company's existing investors, including Synopsys Inc. and CMEA Ventures, were joined in this funding round by key new investors Intel Capital (Intel Corporation's strategic investment program), Dow Pension Funds and the Southern Ute Growth Fund. The investment funds will be used to finance future acquisitions, broaden research and development (R & D) efforts in new technologies, and continue the expansion of the company's worldwide sales and support networks.


Andrew Completes Acquisition of Skyware Radio Systems

Andrew Corporation, a global leader in communications systems and products, has successfully completed its previously-announced agreement to acquire Skyware Radio Systems GmbH of Krefeld, Germany, a producer of state-of-the-art electronic products for broadband satellite communications networks. Skyware and its approximately 40 employees — located in Krefeld, Germany, and Stockport, England — now are part of Andrew's Satellite Communications Group, which had sales of $140 million in fiscal 2005. Andrew paid approximately $9 million in cash, with additional cash consideration possible if certain financial performance goals are reached over a two-year period.
