The demand for hardened, extreme condition hi-rel passives has increased significantly. And the technology has risen to the occasion.

By Chris C. Reynolds

Electronic manufacturers are responding to the demands from the military and aerospace industries for highly reliable, top quality passive components for mission critical applications. Passive component requirements for the military expand beyond meeting a simple specification; these components are required to meet exacting military standards and control documentation.

Passive Components

The term "passives" encompasses many technologies that must be considered for component level design, including capacitors, resistors, inductors, and circuit protection devices. Demands on parametric performance along with ESR, ESL, EMI, and ESD requirements are increasing. Underlying this, competitive pressure to reduce size and cost, while increasing functionality, continues unabated.
