Torex introduces the XC9110/XC9111 family of PFM controlled step-up DC/DC converter/controller ICs. These new highly integrated power management devices employ a combination of CMOS structure and PFM control to generate the low supply voltages required by designers of the latest generation of battery-powered hand-held devices, such as mobile phones and PDAs, to meet the demand for extended battery life. The family is available as a converter with a 2.5O N-channel driver transistor built-in so that all the device needs to provide step-up voltages is an external coil, capacitor, and diode. For applications that require larger currents to be generated, a controller version is available which can be used with an external transistor. Operating voltage range is 0.9 to 10.0 V. Output voltage is internally programmable from 1.5 to 7.0 V in small incremental steps of 100 mV to an accuracy of ۬.5%. When operating at an output voltage of 3.0 V a supply current down to 2.0µA can be achieved. Maximum oscillation frequency is 100kHz䔳%.
