Mindspeed announces the Comcerto VoIP convergence processor for wireless and wireline applications. The carrier convergence processor M82710 delivers 2 GHz of DSP power and is capable of processing more than 500 channels of secure carrier-class VoIP for wireline applications. For wireless applications, the device can process more than 100 channels of CDMA selectable-mode-vocoder (SMV). It also offers a suite of voice codecs and protocols for GSM and W-CDMA wireless networks. The device incorporates an echo canceller and speech transcoding technology that minimizes delay time between multiple wireless and wireline protocols. The processor combines a DSP architecture for voice processing, a packet-processing engine, and a security processor, as well as a range of industry-standard streaming interfaces including universal test and operations physical-layer interface for ATM (UTOPIA), packet over synchronous optical networks (POS), and Ethernet. The devices's security processor performs RC4, AES, DES & 3DES voice payload encryption, secure RTP encapsulation, and MMH and SHA-1 authentication. A net filter implementation protects active voice calls from DoS attacks.
