Mon, 03/15/2004 - 9:53am

National Semiconductor introduces the first member of a family of stand-alone, monolithic VCOs for mobile handsets. The LMX2604 is designed for the GSM and GPRS cellular markets. The product provides on-chip RF VCOs for GSM at 880 MHz to 915 MHz, for DCS at 1710 MHz to 1785 MHz, and for PCS at 1850 MHz to 1910 MHz. It has phase noise of 𤪗 dBc/Hz at 20 MHz offset in the GSM band, and 𤪒 dBc/Hz at 20MHz offset in the DCS and PCS bands. High output power is +6 dBm in all bands, which is suitable for use with transmit closed-loop modulation. The VCO also has current consumption of 18 mA in GSM mode and 15 mA in DCS/PCS mode.
