The UPB1008K is a single-chip double-conversion RF-to-IF I-Q frequency translator designed to provide a complete RF front end for GPS systems. It combines a low noise amplifier, VCO, PLL, IF AGC amplifiers, I-Q demodulators, I-Q IF amplifiers, and 2-bit A/D converters in a single, compact 36 pin QFN package. It requires a single, 3 volt power supply making it compatible with common Lithium battery-based designs, and it can share the power supply with other microprocessors and baseband devices in the system. The A/D converter delivers a 132 MHz pseudo-baseband output that it is compatible with CMOS microprocessors, plus a 45 dBc AGC range offers the flexibility needed to operate in a wide variety of system designs. Low, 50 mW power consumption, a PowerSave function, and a miniature footprint make the UPB1008K ideal for battery-powered handheld products.
