M/A-COM announces the P-800 portable radio for the OpenSky Network. The P-800 portable is an Internet Protocol (IP)-based compact digital two-way radio that can operate on trunked and conventional communications systems for both voice and data. It is built to withstand demanding use and to support a full range of OpenSky trunked and analog conventional mode features. This software-based radio enables multi-application upgrades and enhancements. Other features include the user controls of the P-800 portable and arranged for ease of operation with several programmable options. The top panel features a rotary on-off volume control, a 16-position rotary control for talkgroup/channel selection, 2-position toggle switch, and two additional buttons for selection of radio control menus. With a molded polycarbonate-blend case surrounding a metal casting, the portable can withstand demanding use, meeting MIL-STD-810F specifications.
