Toshiba announces a single-chip Bluetooth large scale integration (LSI) that integrates RF and baseband circuits. Designated TC35654, the single-chip device is targeted at applications such as cellular phones, PDAs, and other handheld products. The TC35654 has a small footprint and low power consumption. The RF function consists of a 2.4 GHz low noise amplifier, mixer, voltage controlled oscillator and power amplifier. The transmission supports class 2 and 3. The device contains buffer RAM and mask ROM for installing link manager protocol/host control interface software. The host interface is a high speed universal asynchronous receiver-transmitter up to 921.6 kilobits per second and pulse-code modulation digital audio interface.
