With their high data rate and high common mode transient immunity, NEC's PS9714 and PS9715 optocouplers are ideal for use in high-noise industrial applications like transistor gate drives in DC/DC converters, isolated RS422 communications, and motor control applications. Key specifications include: high CMH CML; ± 20 kV/μs typical; high speed is 10 Mbps; Low Pulse Width Distortion tPHL - tPLH = 7 ns typical; high isolation is 2500 Vr.m.s. The PS9714 and PS9715 are designed for a 5 V supply voltage (7 V maximum) so they are compatible with standard TTL and CMOS logic. They combine a GaA1As LED on the input side of the device with a photo diode and signal processing circuit on the output side. The PS9714 features an open collector output for maximum flexibility in design, while the PS9715 offers a totem pole output for design simplicity. Both are housed in a miniature, low profile 5-pin SSOP package so they're ideal for applications that demand high placement density.
