W. L. Gore announced that its industrial membrane vents are now available in the standard metric M12 thread size for screw-in applications. GORE Membrane Vents allow the passage of gases in and out of enclosed structures such as housings while at the same time providing protection against water inflow. This reduces the pressure changes that can cause contaminants to be drawn inside where they can dramatically shorten the life of sensitive components. GORE Membrane Vents offer a unique combination of fluid resistance and breathability through the use of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE). A highly porous structure of fibrils and nodes, GORE membrane material ensures a high rate of airflow while permanently helping to protect against water and small particles such as dust. The membrane is resistant to water, oils and chemicals, UV resistant, and stable through a wide temperature range.
