Centurion introduces a 5.15 - 5.35 GHz PIFA (planar inverted F antenna) for 802.11a PC cards. The design features two different PIFAs that are orthogonal (90°) to each other, in order to provide a high degree of pattern and polarization diversity that solve the spatial diversity limitations of the PCMCIA card size. The Dual Diversity antennas are designed to be soldered to the PCB of the PCMCIA card during manufacturing using standard SMT techniques. The antennas operate over the range from 5150 to 5350 MHz and achieve a peak gain of 2.5 dBi with the PCMCIA card installed into a laptop.
