Dual Channel Active Filter

Mon, 05/06/2002 - 7:16am
Murata introduced an integrated dual-channel active filter device (tentative part number AF-9533) for 5 GHz 802.11a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) baseband filtering. Murata's dual-channel anti-aliasing filter utilizes a design concept that consolidates the many discrete components normally required to filter out frequencies above 9 MHz and unwanted and spurious noise into one miniature surface-mount device (9.5 mm × 12.5 mm × 2.2 mm).

The benefits of combining high-speed op-amps, capacitors and resistors into this filter are numerous. First, the integrated solution increases available board space, which is at a premium in order to accommodate new applications. In addition to maximizing this space, Murata's active filter expands WLAN functionality by ensuring a clean signal as it passes through the A-D conversion block or RF block after D-A conversion is completed.
