WJ Communications, Inc.
About the Company...WJ Communications, Inc., is the commercial product descendent of Watkins-Johnson Company. Watkins-Johnson Company, founded in 1957, designed and manufactured quality microwave components, subsystems, and systems for the defense marketplace for four decades. WJ's telecommunications products began in 1995 as an entrepreneurial activity; with the goal of combining WJ's technical expertise coupled with cost-effective design and advanced packaging technologies appropriate to the commercial marketplace. Sales grew rapidly due to the company's well-founded reputation for high quality and excellent performance, combined with rapid volume manufacturing response to customers' demand for product. A key decision was taken in 1997 to refocus the company on commercial telecommunications, and over the next three years, the other activities in defense electronics, intelligence, and semiconductor capital equipment were sold. A recapitalization merger with Fox-Paine was completed January 1, 2000. WJ Communications is ISO 9001-certified and currently has over 200 employees based in its facilities in San Jose, Corporate Headquarters and Milpitas (Fabrication Laboratory), CA, USA. WJ Communications is a public company listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange as WJCI.
Technical Capabilities and
Customer Support Services
WJ designs, develops and manufacturers innovative, high quality broadband communications products that enable voice, data and image transport over broadband cable, wireless communications and fiber optic networks globally. Our products are comprised of advanced, highly functional radio frequency (RF) components and integrated assemblies that address the RF challenges of both current and next generation broadband communications networks. These products are used in the network infrastructure supporting and facilitating mobile communications, broadband high-speed data transmission and enhanced voice services. Our core expertise in gallium arsenide (GaAs) semiconductors and thin-film technology, coupled with our exceptional RF design, integration, and manufacturing capabilities, have allowed us to obtain a competitive advantage in these broadband communications markets. Specifically for wireless communications, WJ designs highly linear amplifiers, transistors (FETs) and mixers. WJ also utilizes its native SiGe/InGaP design technology.
WJ's semiconductor portfolio includes products optimized for wireless base station, transceiver and transmitter applications. WJ has the capabilities to drive 2.5G and next generation (3G) networks. WJ's semiconductors cover a broad range of frequencies, including, but not limited to UMTS, PCS and Cellular. WJ has customer support services around the world to assist you 24 hours a day. WJ's applications engineers and sales staff are highly technical and very well trained to assist you with any application issues. You can download a copy of WJ's Spring Edition 2002 Product Selection Guide on our web site for a complete listing of our products.
WJ has introduced a number of new products recently, which include: an AH201 1 watt medium power, high linearity amplifier, the MH101 and MH102, high dynamic range MMIC mixers, the SME1903-13, SME902-13 and SME904-13, quad diode surface mount mixers and the FP1189 and FP2189 a 1/2 watt and 1 watt HFET. These high quality devices are low in cost and provide high performance and reliability.
AH201: Frequency range of 400 - 2000 MHz, +30 dBm P1dB, +49 dBm OIP3, 17 dB Gain @ 900 MHz and packaged in a 6 × 6 mm QFN that provides excellent thermal dissipation while allowing visible evidence of solder reflow throughout the bottom of the package on a SMT board.
MH101 & MH102: Frequency range of 1900 - 2200 MHz RF, +30 dBm Input IP3, no external matching elements required and +17 dBm drive level.
SME1903-13, SME902-13 & SME904-13: Covers the Cellular and PCS frequency bands, Input IP3 of +25 dBm and L-R Isolation of 49 dB, while requiring only +13 dBm of LO input power. FP1189 & FP2189: Both operate at a frequency range of 50 - 400 MHz, the FP1189 1/2 watt HFET features +27 dBm P1dB, 17 dB Gain @ 1900 MHz and high drain efficiency (up to 50% at Class AB). The FP2189 1 watt HFET features +30 dBm P1dB, 15 dB Gain @ 1900 MHz and high drain efficiency (up to 50% at Class AB).
