Embedding GPS capability into wireless handsets is one way service providers can meet Phase II E-911 requirements. Flat patch antennas are generally used for GPS implementation, and W.L. Gore & Associates has introduced GORE-SHIELD SMT RF grounding pads as a low cost, high signal fidelity alternative to electrically connect these antennas to the printed circuit board.
The GORE-SHIELD SMT RF grounding pads re completely surface mount compatible, including solder reflow. Several part sizes are offered so that the designer can choose the combination that provides the best fit for the PCB space allowed.
