Spectrum Signal Processing and BAE SYSTEMS Joint Development Produces Advanced Direction Finding System Design Win
The BAE SYSTEMS Direction Finding System incorporates flexComm technology configured for the challenging signal processing demands of N-Channel Direction Finding applications. Application-level Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) digital down converter cores developed by Spectrum are a fundamental part of the solution that enables the seamless integration of the software defined radio subsystem with the output of the newly introduced BAE SYSTEMS SI-9136, a dual channel VME tuner. The SI-9136 architecture can support multiple phase coherent channels, with IF bandwidths as wide as 25 MHz, tunable anywhere in the range of 20 to 3000 MHz. Through integration of their solutions, Spectrum and BAE SYSTEMS were able to resolve synchronization and time stamping issues that can plague coherent tuner applications like direction finding.
