Digital Oscilloscope for Analyzing Complex Signals

LeCroy announced the launch of the second in its series of SiGe (silicon germanium) based WaveMaster™ models. The SiGe technology allows LeCroy to more than double two key specifications compared to its previous WavePro scopes: the bandwidth and the sampling rate of each input channel. The WaveMaster series also incorporates X-Stream™ technology, a new method of handling the data generated by long, complex signals.

The new 5 GHz 8500 model is designed to provide engineers with greater insight into complex high-speed signals in multiple markets such as communications and computers. The WaveMaster 8500 features a sampling rate of 20 GS/s. This means the instrument can track the rise time of very fast signals and measure their voltage 20 times during each billionth of a second. In addition, the WaveMaster 8500 offers a long data acquisition record of up to 48 million points, which is key to the analysis of complex wave shapes.
