Bel announced the first products from its recently formed Bel Power Products Division the 3-module V7PB-06B Series of non-isolated DC/DC converters. These step down devices provide a single output of 1.5 V, 2.5 V or 3.3 V, with a 5 V input voltage, and maximum output current of 6 A. Moreover, full-load efficiencies of up to 94% ensure the utmost in reliability at costs of 30% to 40% below comparable products. The high efficiency and attention to thermal performance in the design of these units permit them to operate with no derating up to 70°C. Industrial versions (-40°C to 85°C temperature range) are offered, as well as optional remote sense to ensure tight regulation of low output voltages.
The single-in-line (SIP) devices are widely appropriate in a broad range of computers and peripherals, telecommunications, networking, test equipment and industrial automation applications employing low-voltage silicon. Designed to be cost-effective without sacrificing performance, modules are ideally specified for use in file servers, routers, and line cards.
The new compact converters measure 2.16 long, affording designers superior board utilization. They boast excellent thermal performance as well as provide overvoltage and short circuit protection, undervoltage lockout, fixed-frequency operation, and remote on/off.
